When forums try to revive but it backfires

Have you ever been part of a forum that died off but tried to get revived but it took a complete turn and backfired?

For example

• Old admins returning and acting like nothing happened

• Announcements about the revive that get no responses

• Owners and admins wanting to continue things the old way instead of coming up with new ideas

• Members that moved on and don't want to return

I have revived a forum and thankfully it did not backfire, in fact it is doing good. I shut down my mental health forum for over a year because I didn't have time ti manage it, then I brought it back about a year ago and it is doing good.

Unfortunately this seems to be the case with Zippy Promotion. I thought if I could offer services for free that people would be more willing to sign up and join the community, but I'm guessing because of the style and software I went with people aren't really interested.

I used to run a severe weather-related forum.

It was huge at one time. Over a million posts, more than 100K members.

That was back when I didn’t make backups and a database error made me lose everything.

I had developed a Facebook page for it with over 10K followers.

I tried to use that page to revive the forum, and it never really took off.

I finally gave up on it.
