We are in 2026, and there are roles which doesn’t require one to be a university graduate before they can be able to handle it. With these changes to job qualifications and requirements, do you still think that getting a university degree is still worth it?
Is getting a degree a waste of time?
Some degrees really do seem like they might be worthless these days. Unless you’re going to be a doctor, you should be able to go to college/university and actually get a job upon graduation. That isn’t happening because the degrees don’t lead to actual careers. I’m more into pushing more of the skilled jobs these days because plumbers and electricians can really make bank!
I’m studying right now part time but I’m doing it to challenge myself and at the same time have a bit of fun. I’ve completed a Level 3 and Level 4 New Zealand business qualification and I’m working on a level 4 Accounting qualification. I find this accounting qualification to be the most difficult out of the three. This one I’m having to produce reports on Xero but the last assessment I did, I got higher marks than I thought I would.
