If a member caused so much drama and got banned and in retaliation they decided to clone/copycat your forum how would you handle this? Have you seen this happen before and if so how was it handled?
This hasn't happened to me but I have seen a few people create a clone after they were banned by a certain community. In the beginning, they even created a sensation but soon the enthusiasm died and they ended up shutting it down.
This hasn't happened to me before but I know of a forum that was copied by people who didn't like the staff. Anyways if my forum was copyrighted by myself I would send a cease and desist to the person copying my forum. Otherwise I would ignore the other forum and I figure that the person would eventually get bored with their community or it won't grow and they'll give up on it eventually. I would also make a thread on my forum telling others that the other forum is a fake and not to join it.

I just figured they were trying to figure out how to make their forum more successful and liked what was going on with my forum. I didn’t call them out on it but did notice they changed the forum again after a while to something different (which I notice they did a lot).

Sorry to read that! Would you ever build it back up again? I mean, Forum Spark is pretty easy and low cost!
I thought about it, but I don’t have as much time as I would like to spend on it.
That being said, I did try out Forum Spark for another forum idea I had based on my blog and enjoyed it! If I had more time to give then I would give it more of a go.

I’ve created forums because I was upset with how the forum owner was running theirs.
I didn’t copycat it or try to steal their members, though. LOL. Heck, I even bought out the competition once.
